The Great Migration - Black History Month Photo Series

For Black History Month, I’ll be hosting a few series. This week, I’m showcasing family photos that my mom has collected over the years. People featured in photos are my cousins, aunts/uncles, great-aunts/uncles, mother, grandparents, etc. Most of my family (on my mother’s side) migrated from Mobile, Alabama and other neighboring cities to Detroit, MI. Some locations for photos are unknown but most are in Detroit or down south in Alabama or Georgia. I hope you all enjoy these vintage photos just as I did recounting history with my family.

Two photos are submissions from my dear friend Marquis of his family in Harlem, New York and Trenton, New Jersey who migrated from Virgina - Spotsylvania and Richmond.
